Santiago, Buenos Aires, Iguazu

Where do I even begin to tell the tale of two week vacation that I just took with my fam? We started in Santiago, well technically El Salvador but that was kind of too short to count, then Dillon had to leave us to go back to SB, but Mom and I continued to Argentina! Santiago was as Santiago always is, but it was fun to be a tour guide again and show Mom and Dillon around a bit. We did most of the typical stuff, sightseeing downtown, trips to Isla Negra and Pomaire, wine tasting and of course had a few fabulous meals with Gloria. I think the best part of this Santiago visit was the wine tasting. We went with Uncorked Wine Tours to three local wineries and got to taste 14 different wines! We started at Emiliana, the awesome organic winery that I fell in love with when I visited with Papi and Ellen, then went to 2 smaller local wineries, Loma Larga anddddd one that i cannot currently remember the name of. It was such a great day, perfect weather, good wine, snacks, and great company. According to my Mom, the Wine tasting experience is a lot nicer in Chile and the wines at the wineries are actually affordable, Mom and Dillon bought a lot of bottles. Don't worry though, I definitely helped them drink them.

Dillon had to leave us for the Argentina leg of our journey, but next up me and Mom were off to Buenos Aires! I had been looking forward to it for soooo long! Especially because throughout the year people kept going and I was holding out so I didn't have to pay multiple times (I need to be economical to make my travel dreams possible). Anyway, B.A. totally lived up to my expectations! I really loved it. From the tango to the steak to the incredibly diverse architecture, I was completely captivated. 4 days was not enough to explore the city, but it was enough to make me know that I have to go again. Unfortunately we lost a day in Buenos Aires because we decided to go to Colonia, a town in Uruguay just across the Rio de Plata. Total bust. There was nothing to do in Colonia and the weather was terrible: first it was completely scorching then there were really intense thunder storms, but not the fun kind. So if you ever find yourself in B.A. and the tour company Buquebus offers you a trip to Colonia, don't waste your money. One positive was that I got another stamp in my passport!
The colorful houses of La Boca

One of my favorite buildings in the city

La Casa Rosada, you know the country must be pretty cool when their head government building is pink...
I'm running out of time and my taxi is about to pick me up for my flight to Bolivia, a blog about Iguazu is coming up! Not to mention the rest of my summer travels. Now begins 2 months of backpacking through South America!
